2026: PDP completes preparations for elections to the leadership of the FCT Area Council

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council chairperson candidates for each of the six area councils have been announced by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The elections were free and fair, according to Chris Hassan, the chairman of the electoral committee who made the results public.

According to Hassan, two candidates, Mr. Zacharia Danlami and Mr. Michael Jigu, entered the Kuje Area Council but later withdrew, leaving Danlami as the only candidate and the recipient of all 30 votes.

According to Abaji, there was just one candidate, Mr. Musa Biliyanmu, who received all 30 votes and won the contest.

There were two candidates in the Abuja Municipal Area Council, according to the chairman of the electoral committee. Mr. Zadna Dintani received 24 votes, defeating Mr. William Gaje by 12 votes.

Hassan added that there were two candidates for the Gwagwalada Area Council. Mr. Kasim Mohammed received 19 votes, defeating Mr. Rabiu Adamu, who received 11.

Then, there were three candidates in the Kwali Area Council: Mr. Shashim Zaka received six votes, Mr. Daniel Ibrahim received eleven, and Mr. Harruna Mohammed received thirteen votes, defeating him.

According to him, Mr. Julius Adamu, who received 19 votes, defeated Mr. Harruna Mohammed, who received 1 vote, Mr. Ibrahim Dauda, who received 1 vote, Mr. Bitrus Jibada, who received 6 votes, and Mr. Zaka Bello, who received 0 votes, to become the winner of the Bwari Area Council.

“I’m happy to inform you that the elections were free of violence and proceeded according to our party’s principles.

“We hope that all candidates and aspirants will strive for the elections’ success in 2026,” he continued.
