2026 WCQ: Eguavoen discusses the Bafana match and says the Super Eagles must win

According to the DAILY POST, Augustine Eguavoen, technical director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), stated that the Super Eagles cannot afford to lose to South Africa’s Bafana Bafana.

The Super Eagles are six points behind South Africa on the Group C table after defeating Rwanda’s Amavubi 1-0 in Uyo on Saturday.

Eric Chelle’s team will trim South Africa’s advantage to three with another victory over Bafana Bafana, putting them in a strong position to earn a spot in the global soccer festival.

They respect South Africa, but the Super Eagles will try to defeat their hosts, according to Eguavoen.

Naturally, it’s a huge game, and neither Nigeria nor we have any other options. FARPOST cited Eguavoen as saying, “We respect South Africa, but we are gunning for three points, simple as that.”

The game on Tuesday, which is scheduled to take place at Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein, will begin at 6 p.m. local time (5 p.m. Nigerian time).
