Hugo Broos, the coach of South Africa, made fun of the Nigerian Super Eagles after their 1-1 tie in Tuesday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match.
William Troost-Ekong’s own goal in the 22nd minute gave Broos’ team the lead.
Before halftime, Calvin Bassey then gave Eric Chelle’s team parity.
Both teams failed to score in the second half at the Free State Stadium as they shared a point each after the final whistle.
Speaking at his post-match interview after the game, Broos said the Super Eagles tried to win the encounter against Bafana Bafana with “power”, but failed to achieve their aim.
“It was a game like I expected. On my side, the team who wants to play football, on the other side, a team who tried to win the game by power,” Hugo Broos told reporters.
