A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Salihu Lukman, has urged former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, and other influential figures not to plunge the party into deeper crisis over control of its structures in Kaduna State.
Speaking in Abuja on Wednesday, Lukman warned that the ADC could face collapse if its leaders remain preoccupied with power struggles instead of strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
His remarks come amid heightened tension following attempts to remove former Senate President David Mark as the party’s national chairman.
“Rather than focusing on building the party, we are reducing it to a platform that merely fields candidates during elections,” Lukman said. He added that those seeking political offices were becoming impatient and attempting to dominate party structures to sideline their rivals.
The former APC National Vice Chairman stressed that the same internal power tussle behind the bid to unseat David Mark was already visible in Kaduna, cautioning that such conflicts could further weaken the opposition before the next elections.
