Solomon Dalung, a former minister of sports and member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has denied that the ADC is an association and maintains that it is a legally recognized political party.
Speaking on Monday’s Arise Television Morning Show, Dalung stated that the party has been around for more than 19 years and is presently going through a transition process that involves adding coalition components to its composition.
He clarified that the procedure entails transferring the signature specimens of new leaders to the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, along with the appropriate paperwork. This would allow INEC to complete its own procedures, he said.
Dalung emphasized that there was no reason for concern and that the party was dedicated to abiding by the law.
“The coalition movement and the ADC are working to save the nation. They cannot afford to disregard the law because our democracy has been threatened by injustice, impunity, and a lack of internal democracy,” he said.
He insisted that since the transition process was still in progress, there was “no panic whatsoever.”
