2027: PDP chieftain Ulasi says Peter Obi has no platform.

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Dan Ulasi, has said that former Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, currently lacks a clear political platform ahead of the 2027 general elections. Ulasi made this known on Friday during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show.

He explained that although the Nigerian Constitution gives every citizen the right to contest elections, Obi’s political direction remains uncertain, as he has not firmly identified with any party. Ulasi recalled that Obi contested under the Labour Party in 2023 and was recently spotted at an African Democratic Congress (ADC) event but has yet to define his political base for 2027.

Ulasi, however, expressed hope that Obi might return to the PDP, stressing that his credibility and wide support would significantly strengthen the party’s chances in the next election.

“In terms of the 2027 presidency, Peter Obi currently has no definite platform,” he said. “He contested last time on the Labour Party ticket and recently appeared at an ADC event, but it’s not clear where he stands politically. I would personally welcome him back to the PDP, as his credibility and popularity would be a major asset. Any party that fields him already has about 30 to 40 percent of the election secured because of his massive nationwide support.”
