Peter Ameh, the Secretary-General of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), has condemned politicians who defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing them of lacking moral integrity and disrespecting the voters who chose them. During an interview on Channels Television’s “Sunrise Daily,” Ameh argued that these individuals essentially betray the electorate by joining the very party they campaigned against during the elections. He pointed out that since voters specifically bypassed the APC to support them based on their original party’s manifesto, defecting suggests a lack of shame and potentially indicates that the winners did not truly value the democratic process. Ameh expressed hope that Nigerian citizens would eventually take control of their political future by refusing to give up on their demand for better leadership. He concluded by urging the public to remain resilient, asserting that the country deserves a more principled political class that respects the mandates given to them at the polls.
