2027: Wike accuses Atiku of hypocrisy, saying, “PDP is not ready and it’s very obvious.”

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has asserted that the opposition PDP is not prepared to lead the country in 2027.
Wike stated this in his media interview on Friday, April 18, 2025, in Abuja, according to Naija News.

The former governor of Rivers State maintains that he was correct to back President Bola Tinubu in 2023, emphasizing that Muhammadu Buhari’s performance would have prevented the All Progressives Congress (APC) from winning the election.

Wike added that he would never rely on the former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, to meet his promises.

“PDP is not ready and that’s pretty evident,” he added. “You don’t have to like me; I’m just asking if it will benefit the party. This power battle won’t assist us at all.

“I remained steadfast in 2023 that I would not back the PDP candidate. Due to the Buhari government’s poor performance, the APC was in decline as of 2023.

“Atiku was not an option when I looked at it, so it’s a no-go area. A decision had to be made about who to support.”

“One thing you must know is that Atiku does not keep to his words, I can tell you authoritatively what happened in 2019. Atiku, Saraki, and Secondus came to see me that I was going to nominate Attorney General and Minister of Petroleum.

“When we lost the election, the man who was supposed to be the Attorney General did not know when the legal team was constituted.

“I called Saraki, you people constituted legal team but you said I was going to bring the AG — that’s the point I’m making, people don’t keep to their words.

“I know from day one that Atiku will never keep to his words and I have never banked on that, it was very clear that I made the right decision and you can’t see me now saying I will support who for president? How?”
