Former President Goodluck Jonathan has been advised by Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), not to run for president in 2027.
Wike cautioned that those who had previously deceived and taken advantage of Jonathan were misleading him.
Speaking to reporters in Abuja yesterday, he urged the former president to avoid becoming a tool of politicians who have previously cheated on him.
“I am very familiar with Jonathan. He should continue to be respected on a global scale. Jonathan is being burdened by the same people who played him in 2015.
“They are merely attempting to create confusion. Are they not the same individuals who opposed him in 2015?
The same political figures who “played him” in the 2015 elections are the ones advocating for Jonathan to run.
Additionally, Wike disassociated himself from running for president in 2027.
He clarified that he will not run for president because he has integrity to uphold and works for President Bola Tinubu. “I have integrity and character,” Wike declared. There is the person who appointed me. We’re telling him to run.
After that, I’ll turn around and declare, “I want to run. How would you describe that? How will my kids even perceive me? I’m not going to run for president.
