According to the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), 53 of the 70 applicants who took the written exam for the position of Permanent Secretary have advanced to the next stage of the application process.
“The strong performance reflects the depth of talent within the Civil Service,” said Eno Olotu, Director of Information and Public Relations, OHCSF, in a statement released Tuesday, according to BASEMEDIA.
It demonstrated the government’s determination to only promote the most capable and forward-thinking officers to positions of leadership, she continued.
The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) proficiency test, which is set for today, is the next step, according to the OHCSF. Its purpose is to evaluate candidates’ digital skills, which are essential for effective leadership in contemporary governance.
Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, the Federation’s Head of Civil Service, reaffirmed that the process is still competitive, credible, and reform-driven, and that it is in line with the federal government’s goal of having a responsible and professional public service.
“Our conscious efforts to maintain excellence in public service leadership are reflected in the 53 candidates who have advanced to the next round of this demanding process. We are dedicated to making sure that only people with demonstrated ability, moral character, and foresight are chosen to hold the highest positions in the Federal Civil Service,” she stated.
She also gave Nigerians the assurance that the entire process would be conducted with integrity and fairness in accordance with the governance and reform agenda of the federal government.
The federal government is currently looking to fill three newly created rotational zonal slots for the North-Central, North-East, and South-East geopolitical zones, as well as five open Permanent Secretary positions, including those for the FCT and Imo State.
