On Monday night, suspected herdsmen carried out further attacks in Benue State’s Agatu and Apa Local Government areas, killing many persons.
Sunday Dutse, an Odejo native and the younger brother of a former local government chairman, was killed in Agatu LGA along the Odugbeho-Ogbaulu route, according to information obtained by DAILY POST.
Dutse had been seeking safety at Ogwule-Kaduna, which is also in Agatu LGA, after apparently being uprooted from his community in a previous herdsmen attack.
A different attack earlier in the day killed three young people who were ambushed in the Apa LGA hamlet of EdikwG’Icho.
According to reports, two of the victims were from EdikwG’Icho, and the third was from Ugbokpo.
Despite the recent arrival of high-ranking military officials, including as the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), who pledged more security in the state’s difficult areas, these attacks nevertheless occurred.
