Roman Abramovich stated that he would love to come back to Chelsea to say his goodbyes.
The Russian billionaire has broken his silence on the pain of being forced to sell the Premier League club, as a consequence of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
Three years later, the British government continues to threaten to bring Abramovich to court in order to guarantee that the proceeds go to victims of the conflict in Ukraine.
The Blues are now owned by a consortium led by Americans Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital for £2.5 billion after purchasing them from Abramovich in May 2022. In Abramovich’s new book, *Sanctioned: The Inside Story of the Sale of Chelsea FC*, the 58-year-old insisted he was done with club ownership.
He said: “Perhaps one day there would be a situation where I could attend a match and say a proper goodbye, but nothing more than that.
“I have no interest in any role within a football club, especially not a professional one.
“I could potentially assist with academies and young people, providing greater opportunities for those from challenging backgrounds, if there were a project that could create a positive impact.
“But as for ownership or a professional role at a club, I am done with that in this lifetime.”
