Uriel Oputa, a former Big Brother Naija star and businesswoman, has taken a stand against age-shaming, particularly directed at women. In an Instagram post, she called out Nigerian men for shaming women for aging, questioning why something natural should be used as an insult. The reality TV star emphasized that aging is a privilege, stating she would prefer to grow older than die young. She remarked, “This is aimed at Nigerian men. Using age discrimination against a woman is an insult to God. I posted a video and if you don’t understand it properly, all you take away is ‘oh you’re getting older.’ You aren’t smart enough to use the advice from the video to improve your life; instead, you focus on the fact that you’re aging. “Consider carefully before insulting a woman who is aging gracefully and beautifully; this is not an affront to age but rather a blessing.
