Dantata: FG team travels to Saudi Arabia for funeral

Prior to his burial in the holy city of Madina, the remains of the late business tycoon and elder statesman Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata have been received by a powerful Federal government team in Saudi Arabia.

The group, headed by Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, the Minister of Defense, left Nigeria late Sunday and arrived in Madina early Monday.

In addition, the delegation comprises the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN; the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris; and the Minister of State for Housing Development, Honourable Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, according to a statement released by Rabiu Ibrahim, Special Assistant to the Minister of Information and National Orientation.

Prominent Islamic scholars were also part of the delegation, notably Dr. Bashir Aliyu Umar, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, and Khalifa Abdullahi Muhammad, who serves as the Imam of Dantata Mosque in Abuja.

Members of the Nigerian Consulate General in Jeddah, under the direction of Ambassador Muazzam Ibrahim Nayaya, who has been organizing the burial ceremonies that will take place later on Monday in accordance with Islamic customs, welcomed them.

Alhaji Aminu Dantata, a Nigerian philanthropist and business magnate, passed away on Friday, but his funeral was postponed until he received the required approval to be buried in Madina alongside his late wife in accordance with his last desires.

For the funeral prayer, dignitaries and well-wishers from both inside and outside of Nigeria are anticipated to gather in Madina.
