Obasa to APC candidates in the Lagos LG Poll: Do not be disrespectful to democratic institutions

In the upcoming local government election, candidates from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Lagos West Senatorial District have been cautioned by Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly Mudashiru Obasa not to disregard democratic institutions and customs.

This was said by Obasa in a statement provided to journalists on Wednesday, following a meeting with the APC candidates.

Prior to the state’s scheduled local government election on Saturday, July 12, 2025, Obasa cautioned candidates against resting on the party’s success.

He urged them to keep up the momentum and outreach until the winners are revealed.

The speaker at the meeting, which was attended by all of the APC chairmen, vice-chairmen, and candidates for council seats in the Senatorial District, exhorted the candidates to put the interests of the local populace first.

“Interact with all members of the community, irrespective of their faith or ethnicity.

“You must respect democratic institutions and practices and concentrate on serving your constituents with honesty and dedication.”
