In observance of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced a three-day suspension of all political activities.
The party honored Buhari’s lasting influence on the nation’s unity, democratic advancement, and development in a national mourning statement.
Paul Mumeh, the ADC’s interim national chairman’s chief press secretary and media adviser, announced the announcement in a statement. The statement claims that Senator David Mark, the party’s chairman, praised Buhari as a leader of exceptional devotion and honesty.
Mark commended Buhari’s unshakable discipline and patriotism and acknowledged his dual service to the country as a military leader and then as an elected president.
“President Muhammadu Buhari was an extraordinary statesman. He valiantly defended our country’s territorial integrity and unity while serving as a soldier.
“As a democratically elected president, he helped Nigeria’s democratic governance expand and solidify. Mark said, “His leadership demonstrated discipline, dedication, and a strong sense of patriotism.”
The statewide stoppage of political activities, according to the statement, demonstrates the party’s observance of Buhari’s legacy and the values he upheld.
Additionally, the party urged the federal government to honor him by creating national monuments or organizations in his honor.
“We think it is only right that his name and contributions be indelibly etched into the national memory by means of monuments, organizations, or projects that embody the principles he upheld,” Mark continued.
The party sent its deepest sympathies to the Buhari family, the Nigerian government, and all Nigerians.
Additionally, it asked its supporters and members to observe the time of sorrow with respect and thoughtful contemplation.
