Fayose Discusses Makinde’s Presidential Candidate

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has said that he will not run for president in 2027, according to former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose.
According to Naija News, Fayose disclosed that Makinde had directly told him that he would not permit himself to be used against President Bola Tinubu in the next elections.

During his Friday interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, when he discussed the specifics of his chat with the governor of Oyo State, Fayose made this clear.

Fayose claimed to have spotted an advertisement about Makinde’s possible presidential run that was making the rounds on social media. Fayose responded by contacting Makinde, who reassured him that he had no intention of running for president.

“With all due respect to Makinde, I forwarded an advertisement I saw running on social media to him, and he called me to say he’s not running and does not know anything about those fliers,” Fayose said. I haven’t heard him say differently.

“I will believe all he told me as a brother; I won’t put words in his mouth. He assured me that as president, he would not be used against a Yoruba man. Unless something changes, I stand here and declare that Makinde will not run for president.
