Despite having the chance, Inter Milan will not sign Christopher Nkunku, a forward for Chelsea.The Italians would not consider Nkunku as a backup because they are eager to recruit Ademola Lookman from Atalanta.In preparation for the upcoming season, the Nerazzurri aim to bolster their offensive line.
Inter have made a bid of around €40 million for the Nigeria International which Atalanta rejected holding out for €50 million.
Due to the back and forth, Chelsea were said to have offered Nkunku to Inter, prompting suggestions that the last season’s Champions League finalists might consider alternative options.
But Inter are said to have rejected the offer, according to Italian sports daily La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Inter president, Beppe Marotta and sporting director, Piero Ausilio rejected the opportunity to sign Nkunku.
Lookman, 27, has also indicated his desire to join Inter Milan.
Talks between Inter and Atalanta are expected to resume next week as negotiations continue.
