Rena Wakama, head coach of D’Tigress, is excited about her team’s 2025 Women’s AfroBasket semifinal matchup versus Senegal.
In their quarterfinal match on Thursday night at the Palais Des Sports de Treichville in Abidjan, the reigning champions easily defeated Cameroon 83-47.
At the Women’s AfroBasket finals, D’Tigress has now gone undefeated in their last 27 games.
D’Tigress will face their previous handler, Otis Hughley, who is currently in charge of Senegal, in their last-four matchup on Saturday.
According to Wakama, they are committed to winning the Cote d’Ivoire championship for the fifth time in a row.
Basketball is going to be a fantastic game on Saturday, and some people will undoubtedly feel emotional during it. After her team defeated Cameroon, Wakama stated, “But we know our mission here and we will not allow anything to change that. As I said, it is going to be an emotional game and very physical as well.”
Senegal advanced to the semi-finals by defeating hosts Cote d’Ivoire 66-60.
In the final, the victor will play either South Sudan or Mali.
