According to World Athletics, track and field competitors who want to compete in elite championships in the female division will need to take a DNA test starting in September.
The test will be ready for the World Championships, which are scheduled for September 13–21 in Tokyo.“It is really important in a sport that is permanently trying to attract more women that they enter a sport believing there is no biological glass ceiling,” said World Athletics president Sebastian CoeThe test to confirm biological sex is a very important step in ensuring this is the case.
