The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has announced the transfer of regulatory authority for the electricity market in Nasarawa State to the Nasarawa State Electricity Regulatory Commission (NASERC).
A statement by the commission, said this is in compliance with the amended Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (CFRN) and the Electricity Act 2023 (Amended).
Recall that with the EA 2023, the commission preserves the function as a central regulator with regulatory authority on the inter-state/international generation, transmission, supply, trading and system operations.The EA also demands any state that wishes to establish and regulate intrastate electricity markets to give a formal notification of its activities and requests NERC to transfer regulatory responsibility over electricity operations in the state to the State Regulator
