Nigeria is projected to recycle more than 800,000 tons of metals yearly and create over N100 billion in revenue under the newly released End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV) Regulation, the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) has revealed.
The Director-General of NADDC, Mr. Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, said this at a sensitisation and advocacy workshop on the regulation in Kano
He said the project, which was officially inaugurated by the Minister of State for Industry, Senator John Owan Enoh, in March 2025, constitutes a significant step toward sustainable automotive waste management in the countryOsanipin, represented by the Director of Policy, Planning and Statistics, Sani M. Musa, indicated that the rule will not only handle waste disposal difficulties but also give a “strategic blueprint” for economic diversification and environmental protection.
“The regulation will recycle vast quantities of valuable materials, generate revenue, and reduce Nigeria’s carbon footprint. Through this process, we anticipate the development of more than 40,000 direct and indirect jobs,” he stated
