The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) reinstated the four percent Free on Board (FOB) fee on August 4, which was opposed by members of the Organized Private Sector (OPS).
Following persistent pressure from key stakeholders, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) halted the 4% FOB fee on imports in February.
In a statement, the service’s National Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, noted that the action is required to guarantee clarity, preserve uniformity in customs operations, and avoid any interruptions in clearance procedures.
However, in a statement, the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA) and the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) voiced concern about the return of the 4 percent Free-on-Board (FOB) fee, emphasizing the effects on the economic environment.
