Wike supporters and top PDP leaders call for new congresses and the continuation of the PDP chairmanship in North Central.

Some well-known PDP members who support Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory’s minister, have demanded that the party’s national chairman stay in the North-Central

In addition to calling for new congresses in the South-East, Ebonyi, and Anambra, as well as local government congresses in Ekiti State, the group met in Abuja on Monday night under the auspices of the PDP’s Eminent Leaders and Concerned Stakeholders.

Former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom read the meeting’s communiqué, which emphasized the importance of the party maintaining justice and honoring court rulings prior to its national convention.

Ahead of the national convention, we, as concerned PDP leaders, convened to discuss the issues and the status of our party. We are still dedicated to the values that the PDP was founded on and must uphold: equity, justice, inclusivity, and the rule of law. In keeping with our long-standing tradition, we also think that party leadership positions should continue to be open and competitive while maintaining regional balance.

In keeping with the PDP’s long-standing tradition, the leaders reaffirmed their belief that party leadership positions should continue to be open, inclusive, and competitive while preserving regional balance.

We note that the PDP is at a turning point in its history, and its continued relevance will depend on its capacity to settle conflicts, maintain justice, and adhere to its constitution. Exclusion, disenfranchisement, or disrespect for legitimate court decisions cannot lead to unity. The communique stated that the convention must be based on openness, equity, inclusivity, and respect for the law in order to be deemed credible.

As instructed by the courts, we thus urge the National Working Committee to hold new, inclusive congresses in Ebonyi and Anambra States right away. While the results of the South-South Congress in Calabar that have already been acknowledged by the court must be respected, a new and valid South-East Zonal Congress should also be organized.
