Lagos State is a no-man’s land, according to Daniel Bwala, President Bola Tinubu’s special adviser on policy communication. Bwala clarified that even though Tinubu is from Lagos State, he lost there in the most recent election. The presidential aide maintained that Lagos was a cosmopolitan state in response to a report that ₦2.9 trillion was spent on projects in the state. Additionally, he revealed that practically all of the wealthiest men, including Aliko Dangote, operate their companies in Lagos State. “Let me tell you why Lagos State is different, Lagos is a no-man’s land,” Bwala said. Lagos State is cosmopolitan, as evidenced by the fact that the president from the Southwest did not win the state’s most recent election.
Second, the wealthiest man in Africa is from the North, and he operates his company in Lagos rather than Kano. The Nigerian people are represented in Lagos, and practically every wealthy Nigerian you know has a business there.
“If it weren’t for the fact that most people in Lagos speak Yoruba, you would question whether Lagos is truly a Southwest city.”
