President Bola Tinubu’s Special Advisor on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has withdrawn his previous statement that Lagos State is a no-man’s land.
Lagos State is historically and culturally Yoruba, according to Bwala.
In an interview, he made the comment in response to a report that projects in Lagos State had cost N2.9 trillion. But according to the presidential aide, he emphasized that Lagos is distinct from cities like New York, Paris, or London, which are the commercial hubs of their respective economies.”Los Angeles is culturally, historically, and constitutionally the Yoruba people’s, and that has never been in dispute,” he wrote in a post on X. There is no question about Lagos’ distinct identity as a Yoruba homeland. Lagos reflects the diversity of our country while maintaining its strong Yoruba roots by giving all Nigerians, regardless of origin, an equal opportunity to prosper. Therefore, I made the case—and rightly so—for significant infrastructure spending to uphold the social and economic obligations Lagos has assumed on behalf of Nigeria.
