The Nigerian government has summoned airlines due to unruly passengers and flight disruptions.

Due to recent flight disruptions and unruly passenger behavior, the Federal Government has called a meeting of all domestic airlines in Abuja through the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, or NCAA.

Michael Achimugu, the Director of Public Relations and Consumer Protection, announced in a post on Tuesday via his official X handle that the meeting would take place at the NCAA headquarters on Wednesday.

According to BASEMEDIA, incidents of unruly passenger behavior have recently brought the aviation industry under intense scrutiny.

“All domestic airlines have been invited by the NCAA to attend a meeting in Abuja tomorrow, Wednesday,” Achimugu stated.

He revealed that, among other things, the NCAA would deal with unruly passenger behavior, passenger handling procedures, and unresolved refund/compensation issues.

The summons comes just twenty-four hours after Achimugu stated that the regulatory body was mandated by the Federal Government to start identifying and punishing airlines that cause flight delays and cancellations. The NCAA president declared that airlines would face penalties for flight disruptions in a post on X on Monday.
