On Wednesday, the Taraba State House of Assembly approved a supplementary budget of more than N128 billion for the fiscal year 2025.

The move, as reported by BASEMEDIA, followed the first and second readings of the appropriation bill submitted to the House by Governor Agbu Kefas.

The proposed funds, according to the members, will be drawn from the state’s Consolidated Revenue Fund to address priority areas not included in the original 2025 budget.

Governor Kefas emphasized that important industries like security, healthcare, and agriculture will be the focus of the extra funding.

Additionally, he revealed that an additional N14 billion in financial requirements had been approved by the State Executive Council.

A point of order was moved by Majority Leader Jethro Yakubu Zikengyu, allowing the bill to proceed to second reading. The bill was sent to the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation for additional review by Speaker John Kizito Bonzena. Additionally, the Taraba State Emblem Establishment Bill was sent to the Rules and Business Committee for review after passing its first reading.
