The Benue State Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, has expressed its profound sadness over the deaths of police officers and civilians during a weekend of violent attacks throughout the state by local militias and suspected armed herders. The party “deeply mourns the loss of gallant officers of the Nigeria Police Force” who were ambushed in the Katsina-Ala/Ukum axis, while others are still missing, according to a statement released by its State Publicity Secretary, Tim Nyor.
The PDP also offered condolences to the families of the deceased, the Nigeria Police Force, and the communities of Guma, Abagena, and Atsom, where more innocent people were killed in recent herder attacks. Our thoughts and prayers are with the grieving families, whose suffering and trauma are unfathomable.
The PDP promised to keep up its efforts to “speak for the voiceless” until Benue State is once again safe and secure.
