The enforcement of the tinted glass permit throughout the state has begun, according to the Osun State Police Command.
The enforcement complies with IGP Kayode Egbetokun’s directive as the Inspector-General of Police.
The Command encouraged car owners with tinted windows to register or reactivate their permits via the Police Specialized Services Automation Platform (POSSAP) and announced that the enforcement exercise will start nationwide on Thursday, October 2, 2025.
On behalf of Commissioner of Police CP Ibrahim Gotan, Osun State Police Public Relations Officer DSP Abiodun Ojelabi issued a statement that included this directive.
“The Osun State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that the enforcement of tinted glass permits begins nationwide on October 2, 2025,” the statement reads. Owners of vehicles with tinted windows are required to register or reactivate their vehicles via the POSSAP platform, which can be found at possap.gov.ng.
According to the Command, the directive came after the Inspector-General of Police decided to resume issuing and regulating tinted glass permits across the country.
In order to obtain the permit, applicants must first log in to the POSSAP portal, create an account with a working email address and password, and then follow the procedures that apply to individuals, corporations, or non-governmental organizations.
The statement also stated that applicants must choose between the NIN and BVN identification tags, input their identification number, and then complete the remaining necessary information.
A proof of ownership, a driver’s license, a passport photo, and supporting documentation, such as a security clearance or medical report, that substantiates the need for tinted glass are among the documents required for the application, according to the Command.
Additionally, it stated that during the application process, vehicle documentation proving the tinted windows were factory installed must be uploaded.
