The Deputy Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Imo State, Ugochimereze Chinedu Asuzu, has passed away after reportedly collapsing in the early hours of Wednesday.
His death was confirmed in a statement by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, MacDonald Amadi, who described it as a huge loss to both the ADC and the Nigerian society.
Asuzu, a native of Umuma Isiaku in Ideato South Local Government Area, was widely recognized as the convener of *Ikoro Ndigbo* and founder of the *Igbo Intelligentsia Renaissance*, a platform committed to cultural revival and intellectual discourse.
He also served as the national leader of *I Stand With ADC*, a coalition that supported broader democratic participation. At the time of his death, Asuzu held degrees in Theology and Political Science, was pursuing a PhD, and distinguished himself as a theologian, entrepreneur, cultural advocate, writer, analyst, and visiting lecturer.
“The passing of Chief Asuzu is an irreplaceable loss to his family, the ADC family, and the larger Nigerian society,” the party’s statement read. He was remembered as a devoted husband, caring father, and mentor whose influence extended across religious and secular communities.
