The NYSC has enabled the Lagos State Government to save about ₦14.8 billion yearly by deploying corps members across key sectors.
NYSC DG, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, revealed this during a courtesy visit to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, noting that over 44,000 corps members are currently serving in Lagos, including doctors, teachers, and nurses.
He emphasized their vital role in education, healthcare, and public services, stating that hiring the same number of personnel full-time would cost the state around ₦14.8 billion annually.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, in response, reaffirmed his administration’s support for the NYSC scheme and announced plans to establish a permanent site for corps members in Ikorodu.
