Sergio Aguero, a former striker for Argentina, stated that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is “qualified” to take over Pep Guardiola’s role at Manchester City.
Aguero, in a conversation with Stake, mentioned that City will need to begin planning for the future in the near term.
And he has advised the Premier League champions to make a move for one of Guardiola’s most talented disciples.
Aguero stated, “Pep has renewed his contract, and Arteta has been excelling at Arsenal.”
“At this moment, the point is moot. However, if you want a forward-looking answer to whether Arteta could be a good manager for City, I’d say he’s qualified for the job.”
Arteta started his career as a manager at City, where he served as Guardiola’s assistant for nearly three years.
The 42-year-old then departed the Etihad in 2019 to become the head coach of Arsenal.
