Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, has officially inaugurated a five-man committee of legal experts to combat the persistent issue of land grabbing in the city.
The traditional ruler, who was recently crowned as the 44th Olubadan, issued a strong warning on Tuesday at the Olubadan Palace that “hard times await land grabbers” who are damaging Ibadan’s reputation globally.
The newly formed committee is comprised of legal practitioners: Chief Niyi Akintola (SAN), Barrister Musibau Adetunbi (SAN), Yinka Okunade, Rahman Abiodun AbdulRaheem, and Tunji Thomas.
Oba Ladoja charged the committee with the task of tackling land grabbing primarily from a “legal perspective.” He also authorized the committee to co-opt any necessary professional assistance, including experts from town planning, surveying, security agencies, and the bar and bench, to help unravel the “interlocking web of complex connections” involved in the crisis.
The Olubadan stressed that both the Oyo State Government and the Olubadan-in-Council are united in the effort to rid Ibadan of this menace, expressing his confidence in the committee’s capacity to handle the grave responsibility.
