A staggering N150 million has been raised for this year’s Kaduna International Polo Tournament by the Nigeria Polo Association (NPA), First Bank Nigeria Limited, one of the country’s top commercial banks, and other co-sponsors. At the conclusion of the customary check presentation that took place over the weekend at Murtala Mohammed Square in Kaduna, this was revealed by Alhaji Mohammed Babangida, the president of the Kaduna Polo Club.Speaking about the encouraging progress, Babangida gave the sponsors credit for their steadfast dedication to the polo’s advancement. The polo fan, meanwhile, asserted that despite the perception that the sport is exclusive to the wealthy, it is accessible to anyone. He reaffirmed that polo is for anyone who is passionate about the game, and he added that because of the level of growth over the past five years, fresh and enthusiastic players have entered the scene. “People should realize that 90% of polo players in Nigeria are not from wealthy families, despite the fact that the sport is sustainable there.
