With the goal of increasing the nation’s GDP growth by 40% by 2030, the Federal Government of Nigeria is stepping up efforts to execute the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) accord. This program is in line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which emphasizes regional integration, industrial growth, and economic diversification.Nigeria is ensuring the agreement is implemented effectively by enhancing the technical ability of private-sector operators and trade authorities. Additionally, the nation is training a new group of specialists who are knowledgeable about the real-world implementation of the AfCFTA Rules of Origin. This hint was given by Mr. Olusegun Awolowo, National Coordinator of the Nigeria AfCFTA Coordination Office, who clarified that the government has increased implementation through an advanced training program on the Rules of Origin, a crucial factor in determining whether goods qualify for preferential treatment under the AfCFTA.According to Awolowo, the Nigeria Customs Service, under the leadership of Comptroller-General Adewale Adeniyi, is facilitating the project, which is a component of a strategic relationship with the World Customs Organization (WCO) under the EU-WCO Rules of Origin for Africa Program. He claims that the training demonstrates the Tinubu administration’s commitment to ensuring that the AfCFTA benefits Nigerian exporters, manufacturers, and service providers. He clarified that the revived initiative is in line with President Bola Tinubu’s revived Hope Agenda, which places a high priority on regional integration, industrial growth, and economic diversification.
