When Masai Ujiri, the former general manager and executive vice president of the NBA’s Denver Nuggets, visited Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) in Zaria, his alma school, he made a heartfelt return and promised to help upgrade the prestigious university’s sports facilities. The 2019 NBA champion revealed this recently when he paid a courtesy call to Prof. Adamu Ahmed, the university’s current vice chancellor and a former classmate and basketball teammateBorn in the UK to Nigerian and Kenyan parents, Ujiri grew up in Zaria and went to Ahmadu Bello University’s Staff School and Demonstration Secondary School. In addition to discussing areas of urgent need, including sports entertainment and campus infrastructure, I came first to congratulate you on your new position as vice chancellor of our wonderful institution,” he remarked.
