An Operator Promotes Conscientious Mining During 2025 Mining Week

The Segilola Gold Mine in Osun State, Nigeria’s first commercial gold project, is operated by Segilola Resources Operating Limited (SROL), a subsidiary of Thor Explorations Ltd., which has promoted ethical mining as a way to take use of the sector’s potential to spur economic growth. During the 2025 Nigeria Mining Week (NMW), which took place in Abuja from October 13 to October 17, it took part as a Gold Sponsor. 00:07/10/03:11/10 seconds SROL held its Second Annual Stakeholder Reception at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja at the beginning of the week.More than 100 of the most powerful voices in the sector, including legislators, regulators, investors, legal professionals, and development partners, were brought together for the event. Among the notable dignitaries present were Prof. Olusegun Omoniyi Ige, Director General of the Nigerian Geological Survey Agency (NGSA); Engr. Simon Obadiah Nkom, Director General of the Mining Cadastre Office; Prof. Faruk Yusuf Yabo, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development; and Prof. Innocent Bariko, Director General of the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency. Senior officials from Babalakin & Co., ENR Advisory, VUKA Group, Africa Finance Corporation, the Bank of Industry (BOI), and other significant organizations influencing the direction of Nigeria’s mining sector joined them. Segun Lawson, CEO of Segilola Resources Operating Limited (SROL), spoke at the reception and thanked the stakeholders who have been there for Segilola from the beginning.
