According to the Presidency, President Bola Tinubu will meet with US President Donald Trump “in the coming days.”
Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, stated that the gathering will focus on allegations of a Christian genocide in Nigeria.
Trump recently accused the Nigerian government of disregarding attacks on Christians, which Bwala’s comment follows.
Posting on X, Bwala wrote: “Both President Bola Tinubu and President Donald Trump have shared interest in the fight against insurgency and all forms of terrorism against humanity.”
Trump had vowed to use military force to “wipe out” the militants who were murdering Christians in Nigeria.
Additionally, he issued a warning that the US might stop providing Nigeria with any aid or support.
Bwala claims that both leaders are steadfast in their resolve to combat terrorism and insurgency.
He pointed out that Tinubu’s government has “adequately utilised” the arms sales that Trump had previously approved for Nigeria in its fight against terrorism.
