According to Dr. Ed Ubong, Director of the Decade of Gas Secretariat, investments are being made in high-priority gas projects that have the potential to release around 4.6 billion cubic feet of additional supply, which would hasten Nigeria’s transition to clean energy by 2030. Ubong stated that the secretariat’s objective is to turn natural gas from a promising resource into a catalyst for national advancements while speaking at the Nigeria International Pipeline Technology & Security Conference in Abuja.In order to do this, Ubong stated that pipeline infrastructure is the physical foundation of the gas decade and acts as a distinction between gas in the ground and gas in the economy. Without it, industries continue to be undersupplied, production stays stalled, and our goal of energy-led industrialization is postponed. The goal of the “decade of gas” program was to reframe gas as a transition fuel that would serve as the cornerstone of our economic revolution. As we move through this crucial decade, it is obvious that we must construct reliable pipeline infrastructure that link aspiration to opportunity for this decade and beyond, as well as our gas supply to demand.
