A man in the Oyo village was electrocuted.

On Wednesday, a guy who has not yet been recognized was electrocuted in Eruwa, Oyo State’s Ibarapa East Local Government Area.

According to information obtained, the victim was electrocuted while fixing a problem with the 33KV high-tension cables in the town’s Odi Babaode neighborhood.

In a statement released on Friday, Canon Yemi Akinyinka, the general manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, confirmed the occurrence.

The victim, an electrician, was attempting to fix an electrical issue on the active power lines without turning off the feeder when the tragedy happened.

“He was electrocuted while attempting to repair an electrical issue with the 33kv high-tension cables in the area owned by the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company,” Akinyinka stated.

According to the general manager, the organization responded to a distress call made by Adelanre Adeyinka.

On Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at 15:29, the incident was reported.

Sadly, the victim had already been electrocuted when Peluola Babatunde led a rescue squad to the location of the event.

“A group of police officers from Eruwa Police Station had been given the victim’s remains after they were retrieved.

According to Akinyinka, “since life cannot be duplicated, only a qualified engineer or technician should be responsible for handling active electrical equipment.”
