Former Chelsea striker, Daniel Sturridge, has urged Manchester United attacker, Rasmus Hojlund, to focus more on being on target during matches.
According to Sturridge, defenders have more shots than Hojlund, asking him to be more selfish.
The former England international said this amid the striker’s struggles at Old Trafford
Since joining the Red Devils from Atalanta in 2023 for a reported £72 million, the Denmark International has not met expectations.
Sturridge; According to a former Liverpool striker speaking to Sky Sports, Hojlund is a talented player who may be facing difficulties because of the club’s setup.
He recommended that the forward increase his communication with teammates and adopt a more self-centered approach in the final third.
He stated, “Centre-backs have taken more shots. There have been times when I’ve had only one chance after coming off the pitch, and it’s been my choice of shot that has determined the outcome.
It is also communicating with team-mates this is what I want from you. The one thing he has to improve on for me is being a little bit more selfish, you have to pick your spots.
“There’s something in there, he is not a bad player, he has talent and maybe the setup he is in now isn’t allowing him to flourish.”
The Denmark netted the equalizer for the Red Devils in their 1-1 draw with Bournemouth in the Premier League on Sunday.
Hojlund has scored five goals and provided three more assists in 12 Europa League outings, taking his tally for the season to eight goals and four assists in 45 matches across competitions.
