The civil society group, The Osun Masterminds (TOM), has criticized the Osun State Amotekun Corps, citing leadership failures and serious misconduct among its operatives. During a December 2025 address in Osogbo, Executive Director Prof. Wasiu Oyedokun-Alli highlighted reported cases of extortion, high-handedness, and murder, specifically referencing a tragic shooting in the Akinlalu community last September. The group alleged that under the current leadership of retired ASP Omoyele, the corps has declined in performance compared to the more successful branches in neighboring states and its own previous achievements under former heads Comrade Shittu Amitolu and Brigadier General Adewinmbi.
To prevent the encroachment of banditry and terrorism from surrounding regions, the group urged Governor Ademola Adeleke to completely overhaul the agency’s leadership and operations. While acknowledging a recent decrease in security issues during the holiday season thanks to federal efforts, TOM warned the government to stay alert regarding national security and potential threats to the country’s territorial integrity.
