Gas fire at Bagudo General Hospital caused an explosion—Kebbi government, police

The Kebbi State Government and the state Police Command have refuted claims that an explosion at the Bagudo General Hospital was the result of a bomb or helicopter strike. Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala-Tafida, explained that the early Tuesday morning blast actually occurred at the hospital’s staff quarters following a fire that overheated gas cylinders. Authorities confirmed that no fatalities or injuries were recorded, as occupants had evacuated before the explosion took place.
Specialized assessments by the police Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD-CBRN) unit verified that the incident was caused by overheating in air-conditioning and refrigerator cylinders rather than explosives. Police spokesperson SP Bashir Usman urged the public and media to ignore sensational rumors, emphasizing that the situation is under control and public safety is being maintained.
