Ten-year-old Quadri Aruna Jr.’s exceptional performance at the World Table Tennis Youth competition in Luxembourg has been praised by Bukola Olopade, Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC).
Aruna, the son of legendary Nigerian table tennis player Quadri Aruna, performed admirably to take home the bronze in the U-13 division and the silver in the U-11 division.
“Nigerian sports and the future of Nigerian table tennis are greatly enhanced by having an exciting young talent like Quadri junior.
And I have to praise Quadri and his lovely wife Qaniat for the wonderful work they are doing with their small children.
I am aware that Qaniat, a former athlete herself, is her son’s personal coach and has been preparing him and his sister for this international acclaim.
“I want to reassure Aruna and his wife that the Sports Commission is proud of what they are doing in their young children’s lives and that we will always be available to provide every kind of support to further harness the full potential of these youngsters,” Olopade said.
The DG reaffirmed that Nigerian sports have a bright future thanks to young, gifted athletes like Quadri and numerous more exciting young sportsmen in different sports.
