Legendary Arsenal player Thierry Henry has informed manager Mikel Arteta that if he doesn’t win a trophy for the Gunners this season, he will have to respond to inquiries from the club’s board.
Right now, Arteta’s team is vying for both the Premier League and the Champions League.
With a game remaining, they lead second-place Manchester City by three points in the Premier League standings.
On Tuesday, Arsenal will play Atletico in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final in an attempt to advance to the final.
Arsenal last took home a significant prize under Arteta in 2020 after defeating Chelsea in the FA Cup final.
“The board is going to have to decide what they are going to do with Mikel Arteta,” Henry stated in an interview with CBS Sports. All I’m saying is that we all agreed that Arsenal had the greatest team this season after all those years and the money on the table to have two teams.
If you don’t win, you’ll eventually have to speak and respond to some questions. After all this time, it has become commonplace.
“If it doesn’t happen, as I always said, you are going to have to answer some questions that the board is going to ask you, even though it’s all good and we are all supporting as Arsenal fans where we are going to be.”
