In Kwaple, a community close to the Chibok Local Government Area in Borno State, suspected Boko Haram militants have killed 15 mourners and kidnapped numerous more.
According to information obtained by our correspondent, the attack happened on Monday at approximately 7:00 p.m. when they were attending a community member’s burial.
“The terrorists attacked during a funeral, a lot of people were killed,” Chibok Local Government Area Chairman Modu Mustapha stated in confirmation of the attack.
Fifteen people lost their lives and numerous others were kidnapped, according to a local source who asked not to be named.
“When they arrived firing, it was a terrifying experience. Although I was not present, I have been informed that 15 people—mostly men—were killed.
“An EYN church in the area was set on fire, along with roughly five houses and other properties,” the source continued.
In the meantime, attempts to contact ASP Nahum Daso, the Spokesperson for the Borno State Police Command, for information about the attack and other related data were unsuccessful because he did not answer or return calls.
Details will be provided later.
