Abba Timta, the chairman of Borno State’s Gwoza local government area, has announced that the state government has contributed eight million naira and food items to be distributed to the 360 prisoners who were recently freed by suspected Boko Haram militants.
In a three-minute, 22-second video that our correspondent was able to collect on Tuesday, the Chairman addressed the victims shortly after Babagana Zulum, the governor of Borno State, visited Pulka on Monday. He stated that each victim will receive 21,000 naira.
However, he warned that the food donations might not be enough and advised the victims to start trading among themselves.
“They gave us some food items to give you all,” he continued. We’ll distribute it among the 372 individuals present. Each person would receive N21,000 after the governor donated N8 million. The government has brought food. You will receive it.
But getting one bag of rice and corn each might not be sufficient for all of you. We’ll set up a line for anyone in need of corn. Go stand in line for rice if you need it. Alternatively, you can engage in bartering by splitting among yourselves if we offer one person rice or corn,” he stated.
Timta promised the survivors that if more were supplied, they would get more.
Each of the women there will pick up a mat. In order to become independent of the government, pray for peace to return to the farm and for others to bring you necessities.
“The distribution of the rice, mat, money, sugar, and corn will be arranged by the vice chairman.”
Meanwhile, victims who were kidnapped from Askira-Uba Local Government and set free alongside the Ngoshe victims have returned to their community, according to sources inside the camp who spoke to PUNCH Online.
“Yesterday, following the products’ distribution. Along with the Ngoshe people, the victims who had been kidnapped from Askira Uba were returned to their community. The insider stated, “They were all pleased to receive the support.”
According to PUNCH Online, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum visited the victims on Monday and declared that money had been made available for the Ngoshe community’s reconstruction.
“We are here to celebrate with the Ngoshe community following the release of the abducted women and children numbering about 434,” he stated during the visit. About 360, which was revealed two days ago, is what we observed this morning. However, we also received roughly 434 additional people two to three weeks ago. In addition, we are here to provide them with food and non-food assistance supplies. These will be given to every single family. To aid in the Ngoshe community’s rehabilitation, the government has released millions of naira. The work is almost finished thus far. The governor promised, “We are also interacting with the community regarding their return to Ngoshe; those who are willing to return, we are working with the Nigerian military to establish institutional arrangements that will ensure their safe and dignified return.”
