The Plateau government orders a security crackdown and denounces the attack on the Bokkos community.

The attack on the Kawel community in Mushere Chiefdom of Bokkos Local Government Area, which resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries, has been denounced by the Plateau State Government.

The government called the attack senseless and offered its condolences to the victims’ families in a statement released on Monday by Joyce Ramnap, Commissioner for Information and Communication.

The incident, according to the government, demonstrated the necessity of persistent efforts to address criminal elements endangering the state’s peace and stability.

Security agencies have been instructed by Governor Caleb Mutfwang to step up operations in the impacted area and make sure that the attackers are found, detained, and prosecuted.

Additionally, the governor ordered humanitarian organisations and emergency management to assist victims and their families, including those undergoing medical care in hospitals.

The state government reiterated its commitment to safeguarding people and property and keeping criminal elements from undermining initiatives meant to advance peace and development in the Plateau.

Residents of the Kawel community, Mushere Chiefdom, and other areas of the state were urged to maintain composure and assist security forces by supplying reliable information to support ongoing operations and investigations.

Additionally, the government issued a warning against retaliation, emphasising that the perpetrators of the attack would face legal consequences.

Residents were reassured of its dedication to upholding security, peace, and the rule of law throughout the state.
