On Wednesday (today), the National Universities Commission will grant licenses to eleven new private universities, increasing the total number of licensed private colleges in the nation to 159.
A note to our Abuja-based colleagues revealed this.
The NUC emailed our correspondent a brief notice that stated, “The NUC will issue provisional licenses to 11 new private universities at the NUC auditorium by 3:00pm.”
Although the Federal Government banned private university licenses earlier this year, it stated that applicants who advanced to the advanced stages will still be examined and accepted if they fulfill the standards.The eleven new private universities are: Tonnie Iredia University of Communication, Benin City, Edo State; Isaac Balami University of Aeronautics and Management, Lagos; Kevin Eze University, Mgbowo, Enugu State; Abubakar Toyin University, Oke-Agba, Kwara State; Southern Atlantic University, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State; Lens University, Ilemona, Kwara State; and New City University, Ayetoro, Ogun State; Eranova University, Mabushi, FCT; and Minaret University, Ikirun, Osun Annexe.
